Nancy Goughnour

My work has been primarily the female figure and portraits. I’m inspired by photos, paintings and anything by Rodin. I have also done about three or four variations of St. Francis of Assisi. Something about his life and philosophy interests me.

The Blue Footed Booby is also of interest to me. He has shown up in my work several times. Go figure!!

About Nancy

I have always been interested in sculpture. I have taken many classes with Peter Lupori and Catherine Nash at the Minnesota Art Center in Minnetonka, MN. I even won a contest with a plaster dog when I was a girl scout!

I’m primarily interested in figurative work, portraits, wall pieces, tiles, and animals of the forest.

My husband and I retired to Green Valley, Arizona and I found a sculpture studio in our community. My clay pieces were shown in Hilltop Gallery in Nogales and at Tubac Center of the Arts. When we moved back to Minnesota to “re-retire,” I was delighted to find Minnetonka Center for Arts had a foundry and was offering bronze casting classes. In 2010, I moved to Helena, MT to be with my family. I’ve been taking my community classes at the Archie Bray Foundation for eight years. Since 2014, I have been thrilled to be represented by the 1+1=1 Gallery. I have been inspired by the talented residents, fellow students, and close friends living in beautiful Montana.

My work has been accepted into shows at the Minnetonka Center for the Arts and the Society of Minnesota Sculptors’ shows. I have several pieces in private collections, one in particular is a bronze St. Francis of Assisi located in St. John’s Lutheran Church in Mound, Minnesota. I also have many of my sculptures in private collections in Montana and other western states.
