Girls Art Night Icon Art Cards

Mixed Media Icons Class

Iconic Art Cards Example03

February Girls Art Night — SOLD OUT

It’s all about making Art Cards Inspired by Byzantine Iconic Images

From 6 to 8:30 pm, we will learn a few collaging and painting techniques (mixed media) to make mini-iconic images. These can be used as gifts, postcards, greeting cards, or framed as tiny artworks. We’re going to look at traditional Russian and Greek Byzantine iconic art, then use collected images (from old greeting cards) of angels and the Madonna, to make our own gorgeous icons. If we have time, you can also make a second icon using more contemporary imagery like Dick, Jane and Sally or other children’s book pages.

Using the techniques and format Maureen will share, your art cards can be religious or secular — it’s up to you. Anything goes. It’s easy! Either way we’re sure you’ll make something special and unique!

  • Cost for the evening gathering includes materials and beverages. Participants are invited to bring a potluck finger food or dessert.
  • Your registration fee helps support the gallery and we thank everyone who participates!
  • The gathering is limited to 8 participants because studio work-space is limited. You must register and pay ahead to reserve your space.

Girls Art Night is a regular event in Brown Bird Studio located in the back room of 1+1=1 Gallery. Girls Art Night is held on the last Thursday of each month. The gathering is limited to 8 participants and there is a minimal charge to cover materials, instruction and studio expenses each time.

We get together, share some wine, tea, coffee, potluck finger foods and dessert and we make art. It’s always a fun and creative way to spend a couple of hours on a weekday evening.

Check back often on our gallery’s Events page to find out about monthly art making sessions and other classes.
