2016 Exhibit Schedule
NEXT NEW EXHIBIT:
GENIUS LOCI: EXPERIENCE PLACE THROUGH TRAVEL SKETCHBOOKS
Opening Friday, April 14, 2017, our newest show focuses on the experience of place, or the soul of a place, through sketching. Mj Williams, Nancy Owens and Gabriel Shaughnessy are three artists who do this whenever they travel — and even when they are home. Their sketchbooks will be available at the exhibit, to examine. We will also have selected watercolors, digital sketches and drawings from their sketchbooks available to purchase during the exhibit. These have been chosen by the artists to be reproduced in very small editions by a fine art printer.
During the opening the three artists will have a conversation with the audience, to answer questions about how they started sketching, what is their process and the benefits of sketching instead of using cameras to record places and memories. Please join us for this fascinating and educational conversation from 5:30 to 6:15 on Friday April 14th. A reception follows the talk.
Featured artists are Mj Williams (jazz musician and watercolor/pen drawings) Nancy Owens (watercolor sketches) both of Basin, Montana and Gabriel Shaughnessy (muralist, bookmaker, multi-media artist) of Portland, Oregon
