Meditative Sketching with Linda McCray

Spend a truly relaxing day learning about meditative sketching

Studio artist, Linda McCray leads a contemplative workshop at a time we might be feeling anxious

A peaceful afternoon of meditation and creativity

Spend an afternoon in a very small group with local artist, Linda McCray. Linda paints extraordinary abstracts imbued with powerful spiritual and symbolic meanings. Relax in a quiet, peaceful atmosphere of creativity and meditation. No experience required. We know you’ll be inspired!

Moving Forward through ART+SPIRIT

Are you ready to move forward? We can’t move backwards. This class will start with an exercise of connecting to nature through slowing down to truly SEE+DRAW. Linda will teach you some of her favorite basic oil pastel techniques and expressive design principles. We will connect to feelings through MUSIC+ART. Learn how people through the ages have connected to the Divine through making art inspired by sacred readings and praying with art, experience both. By the end of the afternoon you will have a sketchbook with creative ways to move forward through ART+SPIRIT. No experience needed.

Art-making, meditation and prayer

Art is much like meditation in that it allows us to connect with our true selves no matter what spiritual tradition we may have. Approaching art as meditation or contemplative prayer, helps us tap into our inner stillness, which is where the voice of spirit — however we experience it — speaks to us. This can lead to making images that come from awareness of the present moment, and of the deep spirituality inside us.

An example of Linda’s meditative and symbolic approach to painting can be found in a description of her painting, Oneness, left:

“Out of the brown darkness, emerges a gold celestial spiral that connects us with Light and all creation. It floats within soft orange and yellow ethereal Light, mysteriously not clearly seen. Blue-green, burnt orange and gold is mixed with sand from Montana and the River Jordan to convey the sacred ground we are on, right here and now.” ~ Linda McCray

Our new 1+1=1 classroom offers a place to gather in small groups with awareness of social distancing and safety

We know there are hundreds of online/video/zoom workshops available. There is just something about the synergy of an in-person art class to get our creative juices flowing. We will make sure the classroom is set up for safe social distancing, and that we practice sanitary procedures to keep you and our community healthy. For that reason, the workshop is limited to just 6 participants. Register early to make sure you have a space.
