I have always been fascinated by animal, bird and insects in my prints. I use fables and cartoons and have made small books with my prints. I have made lithography, etchings, monoprints and linocuts. I think stories are best – they show social conditions and mores.
My current series is about Sky and Heaven above earth. Many have birds – magpies and hummingbirds with other beings and flowers from my garden. I love wings. I use a combination linocuts, stencils, drypoint and collagraphy in my printmaking.

Carol Montgomery Bio
Having loved painting and printmaking since my childhood, in my forties I went back to school and earned a BFA in painting from the University of Montana at Missoula. I went on to earn an MFA in printmaking from the San Francisco Art Institute in California.
I go back and forth between painting and printmaking. I credit the Owens Valley, CA for inspiring me to paint watercolor and water media. I have taught painting and drawing at Cerro Coso Community College and I participate in plein air activities in the Bishop area of California and Montana every year. I have taught at the Holter Museum of Art and the University of Montana, Helena. Currently I have a large Takach etching press in a home studio and really enjoy working on my artwork there.

Another series is etching on copper with color inks and chine collé. The small tumbling blocks express, for me, the music of the motions.
