Art of Wood

Art of Wood is our woodworking exhibit with four of the finest woodworkers in the state of Montana. Bozeman wood sculptor, Boyd Carson has been showing at 1+1=1 Gallery for several years. His new pieces are graceful turned vessels – some with honey locust legs – and a large wall installation. Woodturner Tom Robinson, also of Bozeman, joins us for his third show. Tom’s elegant vessels and bowls are functional as well as artful pieces. Helena woodworker Tim J. Carney, has been making fine studio furniture for over fifty years and is beloved in the Helena community. Tim will show a new walnut burl bistro set along with lamps, mirrors and his signature rocking chair. This year we welcome a new woodworker to the Art of Wood, John Brogan of Helena. John’s pair of circular mirrors are centerpieces in the front of the gallery. To round out the art created from wood, we have invited Helena artist, Paul Blumenthal to exhibit some of his compelling landscape paintings. Paul’s perspective on old forest burns, river valleys and trees is suffused with color and light.

Stop by to browse some beautiful, one-of-a-kind pieces, and find something to treasure in your home for generations! The Art of Wood exhibition will be available for online viewing and shopping after opening day.

You are invited to an opening reception to meet the artists, on Friday evening, March 31 from 5 to 8pm. Can’t make it Friday? Then join us for an Open House on Saturday, April 1 from 11am to 4pm. Both events will offer incredible woodworking art and complimentary refreshments. We hope to see you there!
