Emerging Voices of Young Artists

1+1=1 Gallery opens a fabulous new exhibit of art students’ work from March 13th through May 15. Young Voices 2021 is also a fundraiser for three Helena non-profits chosen by the students. The exhibit begins with a Saturday Open House at the gallery, to meet the artists and ask them questions.

Young Voices 2021 opens Saturday, March 13th at 10am through 5pm. As we did in the spring of 2020, instead of an opening reception, we will have an Open House all day Saturday to spread out the crowd. Please wear your mask. One to three art students will be in attendance at any particular time during the day, to answer your questions and show off their work!

The Gallery’s art students range in age from 7 to 16

Featured are Anora Williams, Amelia Williams, Sali Linden, Magdalene Linden, Ciana Williams, Madalene Schnittgen, Hazel Hibbard, Genevieve Hibbard, Carys Hazen, Winn Lozar, Leighton Lozar, Jaylin Oats, Scarlet Carpenter, Ivey FitzGerald, Justin Terry and Kaelani Fury.

Watch their videotaped artists’ talks online by going to this page on or after Monday, March 15th. They worked very hard on their talks, on thinking what they wanted to say to the public about their artistic motivations and style. Honestly the videos are absolutely delightful!

Throughout the run of the exhibit, we will post short video clips of the physical show and of the past year in the classroom on social media. Don’t miss this wonderful opportunity to support young artist while also donating to some very deserving local organizations. Besides, you won’t believe the prices on these lovely works of art!

It’s a Fundraiser, Too!

As part of their preparation for the exhibit, students research and advocate for their favorite local non-profits. The process of choosing ju two organizations to which they and the gallery will donate 50 percent of all sales is a consensus process so that every child is happy with the choices of the group. This year, because we had such a broad age range of students, they chose three organizations: Montana Human Rights Network, Grandstreet Theatre and the Lewis & Clark Humane Society. Thank you for your support of our artists, the gallery and the organizations we are donating to.

The online store goes live on Monday, March 15th and works will be available in the store until May 20th. You may purchase these artists’ pieces in person at 434 North Last Chance Gulch, or through our online gallery store. We offer local delivery and we ship just about anywhere.

The gallery is open this spring from Tuesday through Saturday 11 to 5pm.
